Awesome for the price.

Me and a buddy got the same cue, and we could not be happier. Comes with a case, 2 extensions, and a great feeling cue with a tip that looks fitted, rounded, and sanded down right out of the box, ready to play. I have zero complaints, this is an excellent starter level Snooker cue. If you want something a little higher quality, go with one of the cues from Ultimate Pool, Peradon or Paris cues, but this works great for beginners or as a practice cue.

An honest review after 4 years from a competitive player

It's been 4 years since I (hesitantly) purchased this cue. I questioned if it was ebony, truly hand made, going to hold up, etc. After potting 100's of thousands of balls and using it competitively for years... Here's my pros and cons list:Pros:Fantastic price for the packageSuper straight cueHeld up nearly perfectlyCase is wonderfulExtensions are spot onLooks goodConstruction is excellentCons:The finish it had needed to be removed because it would end up feeling stickyNo chalk spot in caseFeels a tiny bit butt heavyAsh grain can be felt by your bridge hand (barely)I can't see any grain in the "ebony" which makes me suspicious because you can see it in a John Parris, cuecraft, etc (not convinced it's painted, but I'm suspecting it's slightly possible)I only had one cue to compare this to. A very old hand made cue from the 60's. I forget the name because I borrowed it from a friend a long time ago and he took it back before I bought this. It was used by a professional , but can't remember who, either. The differences I noticed is the balance was better, the "feel" was better and I simply can't explain it, it was CLEARLY hand spliced and had real wood throughout.after I removed the finish and did a bit of grain fill, I love this cue. I suspect I love it because the deal is phenomenal. I am ordering a John Parris for several reasons. I want to own a piece from one of the finest cue makers in the industry, I'm a big Ronnie O'Sullivan fan and I own nothing from any sports figure that I've ever admired except a professional game played football, I trust that the new cue will feel much more like my friend's cue which was spectacular and as an extremely competitive amateur I want to have 1 and only 1 cue that is of the top most quality. If you are anyone under a 75 break, the mark Richards cue is FANTASTIC!! all day long, is a wonderful deal. Simply can't say enough. I criticize it slightly because I am capable of clearing a table (yet, I still enjoy using the cue)

What's Hi-tech Wood?

Its a manmade stable timber created using resins and dyes combined with muti-layers of wood pieces. Normally 100-layers on the butt and approx 15-layers on splicing. There is almost no chance of timber cracking.

What's the difference between Hi-tech Wood and ebony on butt?

Hi-tech Wood is manmade while ebony is a natural wood. Ebony is more beautiful for its natural texture and interesting grain. Ebony has a higher rate of cracking than Hi-tech Wood.
The cost of Hi-tech Wood is approx 20% of ebony. The stability of Hi-tech Wood is higher than ebony.
According to cost and stability, Hi-tech Wood is the best solution for handmade cues priced below £200.
